The course has yet to be officially checked but road book has been written and a survey of about half the roads over the week-end showed they have withstood the rain pretty well – in fact better than the main roads and bridges which were under water….! I would love to tell you more about the actual roads but it is a blind rally but I can say some will be recognised.

By the way, there is camping available at the showgrounds and a proper service park is being prepared. Actually, given Paul Woodward is running this show, everything is being planned to WRC / APRC standard where possible and it will be a good pointer to those considering IROQ or a cheaper alternative over similar roads.

QUEENSLAND’S 2012 RALLY SEASON OPENER

The first Multi-Club special stage rally for the 2012 season will be the KCF Rallysport Kenilworth Rally to be held on Saturday 10 March 2012. Based at the Showgrounds within the beautiful Sunshine Coast hinterland town of Kenilworth, the event will be the opening round of the new Qld Sportsman Series and the first round of the 2012 Excel Series.The KCF Rallysport Kenilworth Rally will be a blind event (no practice runs or pace notes allowed) and will cover some 72 kilometres of competitive gravel special stages and 110 kilometres of liaison sections. It will include 2 night stages totalling 13 kilometres as the “sting in the tail’ for the event.

Clerk of the Course, Paul Woodward welcomed the involvement of Keith Fackrell’s KCF Rallysport as the sponsor of the event and said that the Rally is not just for entrants in the Qld Sportsman Series or the Excel Series. This new event will be open to all eligible vehicles and entrants from within the rallying community. The KCF Rallysport Kenilworth Rally will be a golden opportunity for crews to enjoy some good rallying while giving their cars a solid test after the festive season break.

Planning is well advanced and it is expected that the Supplementary Regulations will be available from the event secretariat and the BSCC website very shortly.

As always, the Organising Committee is also looking for people to help as officials on Stage teams and as road block officials and of course, the many other roles that help the any rally to be run. So if you can help, let us know using the contact details below:

The 2011 season wrap up

2011 was off to a slow start with the early flooding.

We held a number of Khanacross and motorkhana events including a round of the Qld Motorkhana Championship, 1 rally sprint, and a Qld Rally Championship event . The khanacross events have been popular this year, since we allowed Rally tyres to be used, and have had a number of fast 4WD vehicles attend(not without incidents). The Bitumen khanacross (Motormania CQ )held at Gracemere was very popular.

While our home track at Rosel Park was wet at the start of the year ,we ran a number of events at Mount Morgan show grounds, which is popular with the competitors.

The Qld Rally Championship was won this year by Wayne Menzies and Chris Baxter from Rockhampton. Wayne and Chris also won the Gallangowan Rally this year.

After running a QRC event at the Capricorn Resort in 2002, 03 , 04, 05, 06 ,07, 10 and 11 , the new managaers will no longer allow us to use the Wet lands roads for our rallies, thus ending another era. There are not sufficient alternate roads available at this tme to continue our QRC event.

Gordon and Marco travelled to Proserpine May weekend for round 1 of the NQ Khanacross Championship.

Gordon, Chris, Clay and Marco returned to Proserpine in December for a 2 day event on the upgraded track. 1st Gordon, 2nd Chris, 3rd Clay.

A number of Club members attended the World Rally Championship at Coffs Harbour in September as officials. Marco entered the event in the classic section , but retired early.

A big thank you to all the competitors, officials, volunteers and suppporters for their efforts this year.

2012 is shaping up to be a busy year, with proposals for a number of motorkhana and khanacross events, at least 2 rally sprints and at least 1 club rally. Also rounds of the Qld motorkhana championship and khanacross championship to be held on bitumen at Gracemere Saleyards.

Eric Stanley is also working on the logistics of running a stret type sprint in the show grounds in September.

Clubs from Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Gladstone and the Whitsundays are currently organising a CQ Khanacross championship.

will no longer be held, as the new management no longer wish to have the rally in their wet lands.
